T he Gorhambury Estate is the seat of the Earl of Verulam.

There is an Iron Age settlement on the Estate which dates from about 20 BC. Some 60 years and shortly after their invasion in AD43, the Romans built over the site with their second-largest town in Britain after Londinium.

This town known as Verulamium, contained a forum, basilica and a theatre, much of which were damaged during two fires.

What's left; earth banks, some low walling and a column or two, demands a lot of the imagination - which is where we come in.

Our brief was to bring Verulamium's Roman heyday to life for visitors - particularly parties of school children.

What better than a series of gory signage boards leading visitors around the site.

Additionally we were asked to produce the Estate signage following this work and our extensive work at the National Trust's Waddesdon Manor.

These range from temporary, to permanent with the permanent ones being designed and built to be detachable from their posts for easier maintenance, repair or replacement. But constructed from powder-coated aluminium, they are designed to be highly durable.
